Squishy Storyland
What happens when a bouncy blob becomes a dragon, a tiny hero, a funny monster—or an entire magical world?
Welcome to Squishy Storyland, where little hands and BIG imaginations bring colourful stories to life!
Each term, children explore plasticine, air-dry clay and other exciting sculpting materials. They’ll roll, pinch, twist, press, build, paint and decorate their way through a playful collection of characters, creatures, objects and miniature scenes.
One week it might be a three-eyed alien. The next, a pancake-loving dragon, a royal cat or a mysterious creature that has never existed before. In Squishy Storyland, wonderfully wild ideas are always welcome!
But there’s clever learning hiding inside all that squishing.
Under the guidance of tutor Giuliano Zanchi, children discover the foundations of sculpture, including shape, form, proportion, balance, texture and colour. They learn how to transform simple shapes into three-dimensional artworks filled with expression and personality.
Working with clay and modelling materials also strengthens fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, concentration and spatial thinking. Children practise planning, solving creative problems and staying with an idea from the first little blob to the final fabulous detail.
Ages 5–9 | Tuesdays, 4:30–6:00 pm | Carnegie
All meterials provided
There are no “wrong” creatures here. A wobbly ear can become a wing. A giant nose can become a superpower. And a happy accident might inspire the best character in the whole story!
By the end of the term, your child won’t simply bring home a collection of sculptures. They’ll bring home new skills, creative confidence and a whole world of characters born from their own imagination.
