Service Description
Term 2 / 2026 enrolments are open kids 9–14 years old • 10 week creative journey 🏙 theme: Melbourne 🌈 learning focus: the rainbow and colour harmony This term our students will look at a city they think they know well — Melbourne — and discover it again through the eyes of an artist. Cities are full of rhythm, shapes, colours and stories. When artists look at a city, they don’t just see buildings. They see patterns, light, colour relationships and the way places make people feel. 📚 Art history (week 1) We begin by discovering artists who painted and drew Melbourne. How did they see the city? What did they choose to show? Students will explore how artists capture the spirit of a place. How artist use rainbow to show the feeling or maybe not use at all..... ✏ Drawing project Students will draw Melbourne’s most recognisable buildings — the Art Centre spire, the Royal Exhibition Building, city shops and the Eureka Tower. These landmarks will be arranged into a dynamic colour wheel composition, helping students understand colour relationships and visual balance. 🎨 Painting project (acrylic & acrylic markers) We travel to one of the most playful places in the city — Luna Park. Using bright “macaron” colours, students will paint this lively Melbourne icon with expressive colour combinations, learning how artists use colour to create mood and energy. 🧵 Craft project — a bridge between two worlds This term we connect Australia and Japan through the traditional Japanese craft of Kinusaiga — a beautiful fabric collage technique. Students will create a colourful beach scene using pieces of fabric, discovering how texture and colour work together to build an image. 🌈 Now, why the rainbow? Because colour is one of the most powerful tools an artist can learn to use. ✔ colours help organise complex compositions ✔ colour relationships create harmony and contrast ✔ artists use colour to guide the viewer’s eye and make us feel ✔ colour allows familiar places to feel new again We will not just drawing a city… but learning how artists truly see it. 📅 term dates 21 April – 28 June 2026 Public holiday • 25 April — ANZAC Day You are welcome to book a make-up class on another available day during the term.
